Job description

A rare opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and experienced Centre Manager with strong leadership and management skills.

Run by the University of Canterbury Students’ Association, Ilam ELC is a well-established and respected centre with low teacher to child ratios. The centre is licensed for 65 children and has 16 staff, with a pool of permanent relievers.

The centre’s dedication to providing high quality care and education, along with large, attractive grounds on the Dovedale Campus, make this an exciting opportunity. (Please see ERO report and Philosophy).

To be successful in your application, you will have:

• Previous experience in management in ECE sector – minimum 2 years
• Effective leadership & interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Experience in strategic and financial objectives of a centre
• Experience in operational requirements, including regulations & standards
• A deep understanding ofTe Whārikiand intentional, inclusive teaching practices
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to build positive & respectful relationships
• Experience in collaborating with others to create a supportive and effective learning environment for children
• Integrity, empathy, and a passion for learning
