The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining an efficient working environment, handling various administrative duties and patient interactions to support the operational functions of the unit.

Job description

To provide comprehensive administrative and receptionist support to the CBT Team/Pathway Navigators and maintain an efficient working environment. The postholder will be an active member of the department, handling all aspects of an administrative role.

The main responsibilities include:

  1. Coordination and preparation of day clinics.
  2. Scheduling appointments on HIVE.
  3. liaising with the Pottering Service regarding inpatient transportation from ward to medical units.
  4. Communicating with medical/nursing staff about urgent appointments.
  5. Coordinating out-of-hours waiting list clinics independently of the Unit Administrator Manager.
  6. Noting patient arrivals and informing staff as needed.
  7. Cancelling clinics under the instruction of the Unit Administrator Manager.
  8. Handling patient enquiries, including sensitive issues, using initiative.
  9. Maintaining and validating waiting lists continually.
  10. Training and supervising new staff at Admin & Clerical Grade 2 & 3 levels.
  11. Providing cover for other sections of the GI Medicine and Surgery CSU during staff shortages.
  12. Answering calls from patients and colleagues, responding to messages.
  13. Supporting administrative tasks for MDT meetings.
