Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc in Derby is seeking a vigilant CCTV Operator to join our Asset & Technology Solutions. Based in the CCTV Control Room at Raynesway, you will monitor CCTV and alarm systems to protect people and assets, analyze footage and respond to incidents.

The role is shift-based, including nights, weekends and public holidays. You will develop incident reports, train new staff, and coordinate with emergency services while maintaining data protection compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Security Industry Authority Front Line CCTV Licence.
• Experience as CCTV Operator or in security role preferred.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear verbal and written communication; able to stay calm under pressure.
• Understanding of data protection and privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor CCTV screens and alarm systems for suspicious activity.
• Track individuals/events to identify threats or breaches.
• Review live/recorded footage to detect incidents or patterns.
• Report breaches to security teams or emergency services.
• Maintain logs and prepare incident reports.
• Check CCTV cameras and related equipment regularly.
• Troubleshoot minor issues and escalate faults.
• Ensure footage is stored in line with data protection rules.
• Assist in training new team members.
• Work with security personnel and emergency services providing footage.
• Stay alert and professional under pressure.
