Job summary

Cardiff Council is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Catering Supervisor to support the day-to-day operation of the Café, Bar and small function catering services in Cardiff Castle Café. You will supervise a team, ensure food safety, customer care and operational excellence.

You will oversee daily catering activities, stock management, cash handling, and support the delivery of small events and functions.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising and training staff.
• Experience handling cash and reconciling tills.
• Knowledge and experience of EPOS till systems.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent customer service skills and experience serving the public.
• Strong communication and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Self-motivation and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Ability to lift and move stock.
• Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operation of the café, bar and catering functions.
• Organise staff rotas and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Promote and deliver outstanding customer service standards.
• Monitor stock levels, stock rotation and stock security.
• Manage deliveries, invoices and stock records accurately.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP requirements.
• Oversee cash handling, till reconciliation and investigate discrepancies.
• Support staff training and ensure compliance with licensing regulations.
• Monitor the daily checks for the card machines.
• Control wastage and maintain accurate stock transfer records.
• Encourage sales growth through effective upselling.
• Support and supervise functions.
