Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Bury Hudson is hiring a Catering Assistant on a full-time basis. You will prepare meals, handle kitchen tasks, and help maintain a clean dining and service area within a care setting.

Applicants should have catering experience, a valid food hygiene certificate, and be a proactive team player with strong communication and hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Experienced in catering, preferably within a care setting.
• Holder of a food hygiene certificate with good personal hygiene.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite and professional with a positive attitude at all times.
• Excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels.
• Diligent and proud of maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Able to work on own initiative as part of a team and under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas and dining room.
• Wash utensils and dishes and store them properly.
• Rotate stock and put away deliveries.
• Maintain personal hygiene to comply with standards.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment per procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

You’ll be workingFull time, 37.5 hours per week (including some weekend work) at Cygnet Hospital Bury Hudson, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Note: This role is a fixed term contract of up to 12 months.

Cygnet Bury Hudson providesa wide range of securemental health services for men including individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

Each service user has a bedroom with en suite facilities and a range of communal spaces including a gym, laundry, occupational therapy kitchen, therapy garden and woodland walkways down to the Elton Reservoir.

Your day-to-day...

• Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals
