Job summary

Cygnet Fountains is seeking an Assistant Chef on a 6-month fixed term contract to support our high care service in Lancashire. You’ll work part time, 24 hours across 3 x 8 hour shifts, handling basic food prep and kitchen duties while maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards.

The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of residents with caring supervision and a chance for strong career progression within the group.

Qualifications

• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite & professional with a positive attitude at all times.
• Excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision.
• Diligent and take pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks and kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils and dishes and store them appropriately.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in line with procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

We are looking for an outstandingAssistant Chefwho’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be workingpart time, 24hours a week (3 x 8 hour shifts), at Cygnet Fountains, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Please note, this is a 6 month fixed term contract.

Cygnet Fountains is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men who have severe and enduring mental illness and who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The individuals we support come to us following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or stepping down from secure settings.

Your Day-to-Day…

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
