Job summary

Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital in Coventry is seeking an Assistant Cook to join the team. You will work 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday with weekend cover when required, across a hospital kitchen supporting adults in a mental health setting.

You will prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals, accommodate special diets, and work with nursing staff to meet dietary needs while maintaining high hygiene and safety standards. DBS check is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook in a busy kitchen
  • Excellent communication with colleagues and patients
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Able to plan nourishing meals within budget

We are looking for an outstandingAssistant Cookwho's passionate about food and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be working40hours a week (Monday to Friday, with flexibility for weekend cover when required) at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is our emergency mental health hospital in Coventry. The service supports adults across three wards to move as quickly and safely as possible to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.

Our model of care promotes a collaborative approach whereby family, service users, commissioners and carers are all involved in the rehabilitation and recovery of the individual.

Your day-to-day…

  • Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals
  • Provide special diets, taking into account individual preferences & needs
  • Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients’ nutritional & dietary needs
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations
  • Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
  • Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations

  • The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards

  • Able to work under your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
