Job summary

Cygnet Group in Bury is seeking a Catering Assistant to support meal preparation and kitchen operations at Cygnet Hospital Bury Hudson. This fixed-term role (up to 12 months) requires a hands-on, enthusiastic team member who can work full-time (37.5 hours) including weekends, in a patient-centred care environment.

You will maintain high standards of cleanliness, assist with stock and deliveries, and ensure safe handling of kitchen chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

Qualifications

• Experienced in catering, preferably in care settings.
• Holder of a food hygiene certificate with high personal hygiene standards.
• Enthusiastic, eager to learn and a proactive team player.
• Polite and professional, with positive attitude at all times.
• Excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels.
• Diligent and prideful in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Able to work on your own initiative as part of a team and under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals
• Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties
• Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas and dining room
• Wash utensils and dishes and store them properly
• Rotate stock and put away deliveries
• Maintain personal hygiene to meet Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment per procedures
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations

We are looking for an outstanding Catering Assistant who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be working Full time, 37.5 hours per week (including some weekend work) at Cygnet Hospital Bury Hudson, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Note: This role is a fixed term contract of up to 12 months.

Cygnet Bury Hudson provides a wide range of secure mental health services for men including individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

Each service user has a bedroom with en suite facilities and a range of communal spaces including a gym, laundry, occupational therapy kitchen, therapy garden and woodland walkways down to the Elton Reservoir.

Your day-to-day…
