Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Catering Assistant to deliver excellent service while meeting SLA and following cleaning schedules. The role is permanent, part-time (21 hours per week), based at B&Q, Highworth Road, Swindon.

Shift pattern: Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-7:30pm and Sundays 1:00pm-6:00pm; Pay £12.74 per hour. Responsibilities include food service, cleaning, cash handling, and customer communication.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience in a similar environment (desirable).
• Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety certificates (training provided if not held).
• Adequate numeracy, literacy, and communication skills.
• Passion for customer service and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented, and confident with strong organisational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain dining and service areas, including furniture, trolleys, and cleaning equipment.
• Serve food in correct portions and wash dishes, cutlery, and catering equipment.
• Clean all catering areas daily and follow health and safety standards.
• Handle cash collection, banking, and maintain records and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and colleagues to deliver excellent service.
