Job summary

Mitie Group plc. in Potters Bar is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to deliver excellent service while adhering to cleaning schedules and SLA expectations. The role offers 20 hours per week at £12.71 per hour, with training on basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety provided if needed.

Your responsibilities include maintaining dining areas, serving meals, handling cash, and clear communication with customers and colleagues to ensure a high standard of service.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience in a similar environment (desirable).
• Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety certificates (training provided if not held).
• Adequate numeracy, literacy, and communication skills.
• Passion for customer service and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented, and confident with strong organisational and time management skills.

• Prepare and maintain dining and service areas, including furniture, trolleys, and cleaning equipment.
• Serve food in correct portions and wash dishes, cutlery, and catering equipment.
• Clean all catering areas daily and follow health and safety standards.
• Handle cash collection, banking, and maintain records and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and colleagues to deliver excellent service.
