Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Catering Assistant to deliver excellent service and uphold SLA and cleaning schedules at our site in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. The role is part-time, 20 hours per week, with a pay rate of £12.71 per hour and permanent contract.

You will prepare dining areas, serve food, maintain hygiene standards, and handle cash and records while communicating effectively with customers and colleagues to ensure high service levels.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience in a similar environment is desirable.
• Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety certificates (training provided if not held).
• Adequate numeracy, literacy, and communication skills.
• Passion for customer service and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented and confident with strong organisational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain dining and service areas, including furniture, trolleys, and cleaning equipment.
• Serve food in correct portions and wash dishes, cutlery, and catering equipment.
• Clean all catering areas daily and follow health and safety standards.
• Handle cash collection, banking, and maintain records and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and colleagues to deliver excellent service.
