Job summary

Serco Limited is hiring a Catering Assistant in Belfast for a 3-month fixed-term contract. The role operates 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an hourly rate of £13.45. You will support safe, high-quality catering services in a busy, customer-facing environment.

Key duties include delivering excellent service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. A Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification and 1+ year’s experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year's experience in a catering, hospitality, or similar customer-facing environment
• Good understanding of food safety, allergens, and kitchen best practices is highly desirable
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
• You’re a team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• You’re reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering consistent, high-quality service
• You take pride in maintaining high standards of presentation and personal hygiene
• You can work effectively under pressure while staying organised and managing your time well

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all customers
• Support the safe service of food and beverages in line with Serco standards
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across counters, tables, service areas, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment
• Follow health, safety, food hygiene, and food safety procedures, including temperature monitoring and opening and closing checks
• Assist with stock management, replenishment, deliveries, and reporting low stock levels
• Process card transactions accurately and support wider catering operations as required

What you’ll do as a Catering Assistant

Vetting and checks:
