A leading business services organisation is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Category Director - FM to lead strategic sourcing and procurement operations across a diverse and complex portfolio of clients. This is a unique opportunity to act as a senior business advisor and procurement partner, shaping the future of FM delivery across multiple customers, including high-profile clients across the UK.

You will be responsible for building and optimising FM supply chains, outsourcing soft services, and designing bespoke solutions across sectors such as local services, data centres, and property management. The role combines strategic procurement leadership with client‑facing consultancy, offering a rare blend of influence, innovation, and impact.

Job Description

As a Category Director - Facilities Management you will;

  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies aligned with business and client objectives.
  • Lead a professional procurement team supporting FM and project delivery across multiple regions.
  • Build and manage preferred FM supply chains for a portfolio of customers.
  • Advise clients on end‑to‑end procurement across hard and soft FM, including full outsourcing models.
  • Partner with commercial and sales teams to bridge procurement strategy with client negotiations.
  • Oversee supplier selection, tendering, contract negotiation, and implementation of services.
  • Deliver complex integrated FM solutions tailored to sector‑specific needs.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal standards, and audit requirements.
  • Drive adoption and optimisation of procurement technology platforms.
  • Lead significant contract negotiations and provide benchmarking insights.
  • Integrate supplier performance management into a global framework.
  • Support sustainability and diversity spend objectives.
  • Maintain procurement databases and ensure documentation meets audit standards.
  • Contribute to the development of standardised procurement systems and controls.
The Successful Applicant

We're looking for a commercial procurement category leader who can advisor businesses and key stakeholder on end‑to‑end procurement, focusing on designing and developing their supply chain and offering sound advice on those processes:

  • Strong FM and procurement experience, ideally from a Tier 1 FM provider or large industry client- Manufacturing, Facilities, Business Services, Consultancy or FMCG industries.
  • Commercial acumen and strategic thinking in supporting complex process in multiple sectors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast‑paced, matrix environment
  • Essential that you have a deep understanding of the FM market and procurement best practices
  • Proven experience in managing supplier relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing procurement strategies.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve organisational goals.
  • You would have previously worked as a Director/ Head of/ Senior Category Lead within FM
  • Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills.
  • Understanding of industry regulations and sustainability practices.
