Job summary

Serco, on behalf of More Leisure Community Trust, is recruiting a Carpenter at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. This permanent, full-time role (32 hours per week) includes an on-call rota with possible shiftwork and overtime.£22,000–£23,000 p.a.

plus excellent benefits. As a Carpenter, you’ll maintain facilities supporting sport, wellbeing and community activity, undertaking reactive repairs as well as planned maintenance to keep buildings safe, functional and welcoming.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised carpentry apprenticeship or relevant structured training.
• Hold City and Guilds, BTEC or equivalent carpentry qualifications.
• Demonstrate experience in a maintenance, facilities or similar environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, maintenance and improvements across the site.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance to keep facilities safe and operational.
• Undertake carpentry works using a range of tools and equipment.
• Perform fire door inspections, repairs and maintenance including fire stopping.
• Support health and safety initiatives and continuous improvement across the site.
• Communicate maintenance issues and parts requirements to supervisors.

As a Carpenter, you'll help maintain the facilities that support sport, wellbeing and community activity. From planned maintenance to reactive repairs, your expertise will help create a positive impact on communities while supporting a trusted environment where people can thrive.

What You’ll Do As a Carpenter

• Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, maintenance and improvement works across the site’s building fabric and associated facilities.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance activities to help keep facilities safe, compliant and operational.
• Undertake carpentry works using a range of specialist tools and equipment, including electrical saws and woodworking machinery.
• Perform fire door inspections, repairs and maintenance, including fire stopping activities.
• Support health and safety initiatives, safe systems of work and continuous improvement activities across the site.
• Communicate maintenance issues, defects and parts requirements promptly to supervisors and managers.

Does this sound like you?

• Completed a recognised carpentry apprenticeship or relevant structured training programme.
• Hold relevant City and Guilds, BTEC or equivalent carpentry qualifications.
• Have experience working in a maintenance, facilities, construction or similar environment.
• Possess a good understanding of building services and maintenance practices.
• Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
