Job summary

Serco Limited is recruiting a Carpenter at Lilleshall National Sports Centre for a permanent, full-time role (32 hours per week, Mon-Thu) with on-call duties. Salary £22,000–£23,000 plus benefits.

You will maintain facilities to ensure safety and accessibility, perform reactive and planned carpentry work, and support safety initiatives. Responsibilities include repairs, maintenance, and inspections of building fabric, using a range of carpentry tools.

Qualifications

• Carpentry apprenticeship completed or equivalent.
• City and Guilds/BTEC carpentry qualifications.
• Experience in maintenance or facilities environment.
• Good understanding of building services and maintenance practices.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, maintenance and improvement works across the site's building fabric and facilities.
• Complete planned preventive maintenance to keep facilities safe and operational.
• Undertake carpentry works using specialist tools and equipment.
• Perform fire door inspections, repairs and maintenance including fire stopping.
• Support health and safety initiatives and safe systems of work.
• Communicate maintenance issues and parts requirements to supervisors.

What you'll do as a Carpenter

• Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, maintenance and improvement works across the site's building fabric and associated facilities.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance activities to help keep facilities safe, compliant and operational.
• Undertake carpentry works using a range of specialist tools and equipment, including electrical saws and woodworking machinery.
• Perform fire door inspections, repairs and maintenance, including fire stopping activities.
• Support health and safety initiatives, safe systems of work and continuous improvement activities across the site.
• Communicate maintenance issues, defects and parts requirements promptly to supervisors and managers.

Does this sound like you?

• Completed a recognised carpentry apprenticeship or relevant structured training programme.
• Hold relevant City and Guilds, BTEC or equivalent carpentry qualifications.
• Have experience working in a maintenance, facilities, construction or similar environment.
• Possess a good understanding of building services and maintenance practices.
• Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
