TeacherActive is helping a Secondary School in Pontypridd recruit an experienced Caretaker to join their site team. You will be responsible for opening and securing the school, carrying out general maintenance and ensuring buildings and grounds are clean, safe and presentable.

The role operates on a weekly rotating shift pattern with morning 6:00am and afternoon 11:00am starts. You will support with classroom setup, report maintenance issues promptly and uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Caretaker is essential, not required to be in a school.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsabilités

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school premises are safe, secure and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

The role will involve working on a

weekly rotating shift pattern, alternating between morning shifts starting at

6:00am and afternoon shifts starting at

11:00am.

Opening and securing the school premises

Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs

Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and presentable

Completing routine health and safety checks

Supporting with the setup of classrooms, furniture and equipment

Reporting maintenance issues and ensuring repairs are addressed promptly

Responding to general site maintenance requirements

We are looking for a Caretaker with the following:

Previous experience working as a Caretaker is essential, although this does not need to be within a school setting

Good practical maintenance and general DIY skills

An understanding of health and safety procedures

The ability to work independently and use initiative

A reliable, hardworking and flexible approach

Availability to work both morning and afternoon shifts on a weekly rota

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
