Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Caretaker for a Secondary School in Pontypridd. The role involves opening and securing the premises, performing general maintenance, and ensuring buildings and grounds are clean, safe and presentable.

It operates on a weekly rotating shift pattern, with starts at 6:00am or 11:00am, and ASAP start. The successful candidate will support with classroom setups, report issues promptly and uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Caretaker is essential, not necessarily in a school.
• Good practical maintenance and general DIY skills.
• An understanding of health and safety procedures.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A reliable, hardworking and flexible approach.
• Availability to work both morning and afternoon shifts on a weekly rota.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and presentable
• Completing routine health and safety checks
• Supporting with the setup of classrooms, furniture and equipment
• Reporting maintenance issues and ensuring repairs are addressed promptly
• Responding to general site maintenance requirements
