TeacherActive is working with a Secondary School in Pontypridd seeking an experienced and dependable Caretaker to join their site team. The role focuses on keeping the premises safe, secure and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

The position operates on a weekly rotating shift pattern, with morning starts at 6:00am and afternoon starts at 11:00am, offering a varied schedule and an opportunity to contribute to a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a caretaker is essential, although this does not need to be within a school setting.
• Good practical maintenance and general DIY skills.
• An understanding of health and safety procedures.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A reliable, hardworking and flexible approach.
• Availability to work both morning and afternoon shifts on a weekly rota.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and presentable
• Completing routine health and safety checks
• Supporting with the setup of classrooms, furniture and equipment
