Job summary

Sheffield City Council HQ is seeking three caretakers for the Older Persons Independent Living Service. The roles involve cleaning, security checks, and maintaining safe, well‑presented spaces across sheltered housing schemes in Sheffield.

You will report repairs and support vulnerable residents with a practical, hands-on approach. The posts require reliability, physical fitness and the ability to work independently with good organisational skills.

• Experience delivering cleaning, safety and space maintenance in housing schemes.
• Ability to perform checks, cleaning and report repairs.
• Reliable, physically capable, and capable of working independently.

Job description

Location: Sheltered Housing Schemes across the City of Sheffield within the Older Persons Independent Living Service.

We are seeking to appoint 3 caretakers within the Older Persons Independent Living Service. This is an exciting opportunity to join us and be part of the team supporting older residents across Sheffield.

We are looking for a practical, hands-on person in delivering clean, safe and well-maintained spaces within our schemes.

This is a varied and active role with duties including but not limited to: checks & cleaning of the building and outside areas, security and Health & Safety of the building and repairs reporting.

We're seeking someone who is reliable, physically capable, and takes pride in their work. A positive attitude, ability to work independently, and strong organisational skills are essential.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
