Job summary

Halton Borough Council is seeking a dedicated temporary Personal Advisor to support care-experienced young people as they transition into adulthood. You will build trust, coordinate Pathway Plans, and work with partner agencies to promote education, employment, housing, health, and wellbeing.

In this frontline role you will assess needs, provide practical and emotional support, maintain accurate records, and ensure safeguarding in line with statutory guidance.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with vulnerable children, young people or care leavers.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A sound understanding of safeguarding principles and relevant legislation.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise effectively, and maintain accurate records.
• Experience of multi-agency working and developing effective professional partnerships.
• A person-centred approach that promotes independence, resilience, and positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient, best-value service aligned with policies, procedures and pathway plans.
• Support care leavers in developing practical independent living skills, including budgeting, housing, education, employment and accessing community services.
• Deliver targeted interventions identified through Pathway Plans and assessments, ensuring access to entitlements up to age 25 where applicable.
• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships that place the young person’s voice at the centre of planning.
• Promote safety, welfare and safeguarding in line with Council procedures.
• Maintain accurate and timely case records using the Council’s electronic case management systems.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all interactions.
