Job summary

Bupa’s Clare House in Uxbridge is seeking a Maintenance Operative on a bank/float basis to keep facilities fully functional. You will maintain heating, electrical and plumbing systems, ensure safety compliance, and support environmental health standards within the care home.

Role requires practical maintenance experience and a full driving licence. You may assist with regional maintenance tasks and refurbishment projects as needed.

Qualifications

• A good understanding of building services including heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution and plumbing.
• Awareness of statutory requirements and compliance.
• Experience with planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
• Full driving licence is required.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Computer literate and customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety and compliance checks using digital systems as directed by SOPs and compliance tools.
• Action and close tasks assigned by Maintenance Manager or home as shown in systems.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness to satisfy Env Health, Fire Authority and Legionella requirements.
• Complete maintenance and repair tasks to high standards with value for money.
• Document and act on residents’ personal space preferences.
• Report defects, obtain quotes, and manage repairs with approved contractors.
• Report irreparable defects to Home Manager or Property/Maintenance Manager.
• Assist with refurbishment and capex programs with minimal disruption.
• Ensure tools/equipment are maintained and secured.
• Aid induction of new staff on emergency exits and evacuation procedures.
• May provide regional maintenance support within 1 hour of the home.
