Maintenance Operative at Thatcham Court Care Home, a Bupa dementia care facility in Thatcham, Berkshire. You will carry out safety, compliance and maintenance tasks across the home and grounds, supporting the Maintenance Manager and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and functioning facilities for residents.

Qualifications

• Understanding of building services, heating, water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution and plumbing.
• Experience with planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
• Knowledge of statutory requirements and compliance.
• Full driving licence.
• Building/electrical/plumbing qualification or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safety, health and compliance checks using digital systems.
• Close tasks assigned by Maintenance Manager or home.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness to EH, Fire Authority, Legionella, and H&S standards.
• Complete maintenance and repair tasks to high standard and value for money.
• Document residents' preferences for personal space.
• Report defects, obtain quotes and manage repairs with approved contractors.
• Report irreparable defects to Home Manager or Property/Maintenance Manager.
• Manage refurbishment/capex programmes with minimal disruption.
• Ensure tools/equipment are maintained and secured.
• Assist with induction on emergency exits and evacuation procedures.
• Provide maintenance support to nearby homes within 1 hour travel when needed.
