Job summary

Shaw Healthcare is seeking a dedicated maintenance professional to uphold the care home’s facilities and grounds in Greater London. You will support resident wellbeing by ensuring safe, well-maintained living spaces and essential systems.

You will perform routine upkeep, safety checks, and coordinate with contractors while prioritising regulatory compliance and residents’ needs. A reliable team player with strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, caretaking or a similar maintenance role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs and general upkeep of the home and surrounding grounds.
• Complete routine inspections, servicing and safety checks, ensuring all records are maintained accurately.
• Conduct regular testing of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, water temperatures, boilers and other essential systems in line with regulatory requirements.
• Identify and report maintenance issues promptly, arranging specialist repairs where necessary in conjunction with the Home Manager.
• Maintain tools, equipment and maintenance stores in a safe and organised manner.
• Support compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH, fire safety and infection prevention procedures.
• Be the first point of contact for maintenance requests from colleagues.
• Assist with staff inductions by supporting fire safety and emergency evacuation training.
• Participate in emergency call-outs where required.
• Support residents' outings by driving the home's minibus (where appropriately licensed and required).
