Job summary

Royal Naval Benevolent Trust operates Admiral Jellicoe House in Portsmouth, a 66-bed care home for veterans and their spouses. Reporting to the Head Cook, the Kitchen Assistant provides high-quality food and service to residents within a supportive team environment.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available. The role is permanent, part-time (24 hours per week across 4 x 6-hour shifts) in a fast-paced setting, with responsibilities spanning food

Qualifications

• Food safety and hygiene guidelines compliance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality food and service to residents.
• Clean and maintain kitchen areas and equipment according to schedules.
• Adhere to Hygiene, Health & Safety regulations.
• Store dry and perishable goods correctly after receipt and checking.
• Assist in preparation of vegetables as required.
• Ensure safe storage of cleaning materials.
• Clean and store pots, pans, utensils and service containers.
• Keep dining room cupboards stocked with provisions and labeled with opened dates.
• Return clean crockery and cutlery to the appropriate floors.
• Follow the uniform policy at all times.
• Assist at functions as directed by Head Cook and Home Manager.
• Attend statutory training as required.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as instructed by the Cook on duty.
