Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a Head of Maintenance for one of its care homes in the United Kingdom. The role combines hands-on maintenance with team leadership, budget planning, and liaison with contractors to deliver a welcoming, well-maintained environment for residents and staff.

You will oversee both building and grounds maintenance, manage priorities, and ensure safety and quality in all tasks while maintaining flexibility in working hours and driving between sites.

Qualifications

• Hands-on property maintenance experience.
• At least one trade skill and versatility in a wide range of tasks.
• Reliable and flexible with working hours.
• Full UK driving licence, IT literacy and GCSEs in Maths and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance team within the care home and gardens.
• Coordinate with the General Manager on annual budget planning.
• Liaise with contractors for specialised work beyond the team.
• Ensure safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
• Monitor maintenance tasks and report progress.
