Job summary

Excelcare Holdings is seeking an experienced and creative Chef to join Stanley Wilson Lodge Care Home in Saffron Walden, Essex. You will become part of a compassionate and welcoming team providing physical, emotional, and social support and most importantly outstanding meal experiences for the people living in our care home.

The role is zero hours with shifts from 7:00am - 4:00pm, covering sickness and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience of cooking for large numbers.
• 2 years’ experience in a catering environment.
• 12 months experience in managing a kitchen.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
• Schedule weekly meal menus, considering dietary requirements.
• Assist with stock ordering in line with budget.
• Collaborate with Home Manager and healthcare professionals on meal plans.
• Maintain quality assurance systems within the kitchen.
• Supervise other kitchen team members.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH guidelines, and cross-contamination controls.
• Engage residents with meaningful activities while promoting independence, choice, dignity and respect.
