Job summary

Excelcare Holdings is seeking an experienced Care Home Chef for Stanley Wilson Lodge Care Home in Saffron Walden, Essex. You will prepare nutritious meals, work with staff to meet dietary needs, and support residents with engaging activities, all while upholding high standards of safety and quality.

The role is a zero-hours contract with shifts 7:00am–4:00pm as required, offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to residents’ wellbeing in a compassionate care home environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of cooking for large numbers.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
• Schedule weekly meal menus, considering dietary requirements.
• Assist with stock ordering in line with budget.
• Collaborate with Home Manager to align meal plans with support plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain quality assurance in the kitchen.
• Supervise other kitchen team members.
• Comply with Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH and contamination controls.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote independence, choice, dignity and respect.
