Job summary

Avon Search & Selection is seeking a Care Home Chef in Totnes, Devon. The role covers 40 hours weekly, 8am–6pm across four days in a 30-bed care home. You will plan and cook nutritious meals, accommodating dietary needs and ensuring high standards of hygiene.

Applicants should have IDDSI and SFBB expertise, strong teamwork, and a commitment to residents’ health and wellbeing. A supportive home environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Proven understanding of IDDSI diet standards and safe handling.
• Experience applying SFBB procedures in a care setting.
• Solid food hygiene knowledge and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to work well in a team and manage time effectively.
• Experience catering for dietary requirements and portion control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, appetising meals for residents.
• Plan meals to meet dietary requirements and preferences.
• Cater for allergies and special diets as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of IDDSI and modified-texture diets.
• Maintain SFBB records and food safety documentation.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Monitor temperatures and control food waste.
• Coordinate with care staff on residents’ dietary needs.
