Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our dementia, nursing, residential and specialist care homes. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals, work with a kind, patient team and follow recipes to ensure residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs.

We encourage safeguarding awareness, ongoing training and development, with full support to achieve qualifications. Hourly pay depends on experience and benefits include DBS/PVG checks, uniform, and extensive staff perks.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail; ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Patience, respect and genuine kindness when interacting with Residents and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen spotless after busy shifts.
