Job summary

Harbour Healthcare Ltd is recruiting a Maintenance Officer for a care home in Seaton Carew. The role focuses on daily maintenance of the building, services and grounds, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The post includes on-call duties for emergencies and maintaining compliance with health and safety policies. Responsibilities include equipment and external area upkeep, fire alarm testing, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

General maintenance knowledge/experience (electrical, plumbing, joinery).
Good communication skills required.
Confident team player with a clean driving licence.
Willingness to receive training on Health & Safety / EHO issues.
Satisfactory Police check and POVA List check (where applicable).

Responsibilities

Carry out day-to-day maintenance on the fabric of the building, its services and grounds.
Test fire alarm system and log results weekly; check call points and emergency exits.
Maintain a Maintenance Book and record defects reported by staff; arrange repairs.
Liaise with Home Manager regarding maintenance work and attend meetings as required.
Assist with deliveries and monitor goods; ensure safety and compliance with Health & Safety policy.
