Job summary

Harbour Healthcare is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in Harrogate. The role focuses on daily maintenance of the Care Centre, ensuring safety, and handling external and internal upkeep. You will be on-call for emergencies and help with deliveries, reporting defects to the Home Manager.

The position runs full-time, involves on-site work, and requires a range of maintenance skills, safety training, and a clean driving licence. On-site parking is available.

Qualifications

• General maintenance knowledge/experience (electrical, plumbing, joinery).
• Good communication skills.
• Confident team player.
• Clean driving licence.
• Use of a car or similar vehicle.
• Willingness to receive training on Health & Safety / EHO issues.
• Satisfactory Police check and POVA List checks where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ALL Legal documentation is completed on time.
• Report and action defects to appliances, damaged furniture/equipment and hazards.
• Maintain exterior areas, sheds and waste storage areas.
• Clear snow and grit the drive, paths and access areas.
• Test fire alarm system weekly and log results.
• Test portable appliances and water temperatures as per procedures.
• Maintain a Maintenance Book recording defects and repairs.
• Assist/supervise deliveries to the Care Centre.
• Liaise with Home Manager regarding maintenance work.
• Participate in Staff and Client meetings.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses.
