Job summary

Harbour Healthcare Limited is recruiting a Maintenance Officer for Granby Rose Care Home, Harrogate. The role covers day-to-day building maintenance, safety, and on-call emergencies to keep the care centre in optimal order.

You will perform fabric repairs, garden and exterior maintenance, fire safety checks, and co-ordinate with the Home Manager on tasks and priorities. On-site work with potential on-call duties.

Qualifications

• General maintenance knowledge / experience e.g. minor electrical, plumbing, joinery work.
• Good communication skills.
• Confident team player.
• Clean driving licence.
• Use of a car or similar vehicle.
• Willingness to receive training on Health & Safety / EHO issues.
• Satisfactory Police check and check against the POVA List (where applicable).
• Understanding of central heating systems, laundry equipment and hot & cold water systems.
• Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ALL legal documentation is completed on time.
• Report and action any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture / equipment and any other potential hazards to the Home Manager.
• Maintain the Care Centre exterior and waste areas, keeping sheds and outbuildings tidy.
• Clear snow and grit the drive, paths and access areas for Clients, Visitors or Staff.
• Maintain external gardens, light signals, and signage; clean lighting outside.
• Test fire alarm system weekly and log results; check call points and exits.
• Replace defective light bulbs and diffusers; maintain ventilation units and lighting.
• Test portable appliances and record water temperatures as per procedures.
• Maintain a Maintenance Book and record defects; assist deliveries to the Care Centre.
