Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Capital Asset Project Manager to lead construction, refurbishment and capital delivery across a three-year programme in Barnsley. You will manage feasibility, design, procurement, construction, handover and ensure safety, budget and timely delivery within a public-sector framework, collaborating with education, housing and commissioning teams.

• Experience in construction project management and delivering capital programmes within a public-sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety compliance and CDM regulations.
• Ability to manage contractors, budgets, risks and programme delivery.
• Experience leading multiple construction, refurbishment and property adaptation projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple construction, refurbishment and property adaptation projects.
• Develop clear project scopes, delivery plans, budgets and programmes.
• Coordinate feasibility studies, surveys, designs, planning applications and approvals.
• Manage contractors, consultants, architects and other professional advisers.
• Lead procurement activity and support appointment of delivery partners.
• Ensure compliance with construction health and safety requirements (CDM 2015).
• Maintain project documentation, risk registers and progress reports.
• Report to senior managers and governance meetings.
