Job summary

The University of Bath is seeking a Maintenance Assistant (Mechanical) to join the Campus Infrastructure team. You will undertake planned and reactive maintenance across campus facilities, supporting plumbers and trades, focusing on mechanical building services and water systems.

You should have vocational training in mechanical, plumbing or building services, practical maintenance experience, and be able to perform first line fault diagnosis.

Qualifications

• Vocational training in mechanical, plumbing, building services or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with planned and reactive maintenance in buildings or facilities.
• Knowledge of hot/cold water services, sanitaryware and basic mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine maintenance and minor repairs safely.
• Assist skilled trades with more complex tasks and escalations as needed.
• Perform first line fault investigation and document basic issues.
• Support multi‑skilled plumbers and other trades on site.
• Maintain good communication with colleagues, students and staff.
