University of Salford is recruiting a Plumber to join our Estates Maintenance team, ensuring buildings stay safe, compliant and fully operational for staff, students and visitors.

You will carry out planned preventative and reactive plumbing and heating work across teaching, research and residential facilities, collaborating with other trades and supporting out-of-hours rotas as required.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating.
• Ability to work on both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Sound knowledge of water systems, heating systems and associated safety requirements.
• Good understanding of HVAC systems and electrical safety.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety practices.
• Willingness to undertake and support minor joinery and electrical tasks where required.
• Ability to work independently, manage workloads and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills and a professional, courteous approach when dealing with building users.
• You will be required to present your qualification certificates or a CSCS Gold Card at application stage and interview.

Responsabilités

• Planned preventative maintenance of water and heating systems, including plantroom inspections, filter cleaning and replacement.
• Reactive plumbing repairs and fault diagnosis across water, heating and drainage systems.
• Minor installation works such as new water supplies, radiators and sanitaryware.
• Supporting the management of water hygiene and legionella controls through safe maintenance practices.
• Working independently or as part of a wider trades team, depending on the task.
• Collaborating with electricians, joiners, handypersons and external contractors where required.
• Participating in the trades out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
• All work must be undertaken in line with University procedures, health and safety legislation.
