Bath Spa University’s Estates team seeks a Mechanical Services Technician to maintain the campus mechanical infrastructure across HVAC, heating, cooling and water systems. This hands-on role spans fault finding, routine servicing and minor works to keep buildings safe, comfortable and operational for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, HVAC or Commercial Gas Services.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical building services.
• Experience in a maintenance or facilities management environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Good awareness of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet timescales.
• Good IT skills and maintenance record-keeping.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Positive, proactive and solution-focused approach.

Responsabilités

• Deliver planned, reactive and corrective maintenance across the mechanical services.
• Maintain and repair HVAC, heating & cooling, heat pumps, chillers and water systems.
• Coordinate boiler servicing and gas safety inspections.
• Support biomass boilers and district heating operations.
• Supervise specialist contractors on mechanical systems.
• Coordinate water hygiene testing per L8 regulations.
• Procure spare parts and manage stock.
• Share expertise and mentor colleagues.
• Undertake minor plumbing and general maintenance.
• Maintain plant rooms and service areas.
• Liaise with users to communicate maintenance and minimise disruption.
• Ensure work complies with health, safety and regulations.
