Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is seeking a Trainee Cable Jointer to maintain and upgrade the underground electricity network across our regions. This hands-on, outdoor role involves installing, jointing and repairing cables, with training provided by our dedicated training school over 18–24 months.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused with ability to build relationships with customers, stakeholders and the public.
• Hand skills for stripping meter tails, using hand tools and fixing meters.

Responsibilities

• Preparing cables and carrying out jointing and terminations.
• Assisting on LV (415V–1000V) and HV (11kV–33kV) networks.
• Supporting excavation, installation, and repair works and maintenance of substation equipment.
• Working safely and promoting a strong safety-first culture.
• Delivering excellent customer service during planned and emergency work.
