Job summary

SSEN Distribution, part of the SSE group, is recruiting a Trainee Cable Jointer to maintain and upgrade the underground electricity network. You will join a team working outdoors across multiple locations, involving jointing, installation and repairs on LV/HV networks.

This structured training programme offers on-the-job experience, classroom learning and a portfolio leading to national qualifications, with progression and a company vehicle near the end of the programme.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused attitude and ability to build relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Hand skills including using hand tools and mounting meters to boards.
• Strong emphasis on Health & Safety and adherence to safety standards.
• Willingness to learn and train across technical and on-the-job learning components.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cables and carry out jointing and terminations.
• Assist on LV and HV networks during installation and repair works.
• Support excavation, installation and refurbishment of substation equipment.
• Deliver safe, high-quality work and promote a safety-first culture.
• Provide excellent customer service during planned and emergency work.
