Job summary

SSE plc is recruiting a Trainee Cable Jointer to join the underground electricity network team across West London, Slough, Theale, Oxford, Swindon, Melksham and surrounding areas. This hands-on, physically demanding role will train you over 18–24 months while you earn and gain a nationally recognised qualification.

You’ll receive structured salary progression, company tools and PPE, overtime opportunities, and a company vehicle toward the end of the programme.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused with ability to build relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Hand skills: stripping meter tails, using hand tools, fixing meters to boards.
• Eagerness to learn, quickly pick up new skills within a team.
• Strong Health & Safety awareness and adherence to company motto.
• Proactive and flexible, plan effectively and adapt to change.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Preparing cables and carrying out jointing and terminations.
• Assisting on LV and HV networks.
• Supporting installation, repair works and refurbishment of substation equipment.
• Working safely and promoting a safety-first culture.
• Delivering excellent customer service during planned and emergency work.
