Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment is seeking a Buyer in Lymington to manage purchasing for a growing manufacturing business. You will own purchase orders, manage lead times and supplier relationships to keep materials flowing on schedule.

The role emphasizes accuracy, structured processes and continuous improvement, with collaboration across Production, Planning, Warehouse and Engineering.

Qualifications

• CIPS or equivalent qualification, or at least 2 years direct/indirect purchasing experience
• Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
• Proficient with MRP/ERP systems; SYSPRO experience is an advantage
• Strong Excel skills and good working knowledge of Office 365
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to read basic 2D technical drawings would be an advantage

As a Buyer, your responsibilities will include:

• Raising purchase orders for company wide requisitions using the ERP system (SYSPRO)
• Maintaining accurate procurement data, including lead times, MOQ/MPQ order points and open order book alignment
• Negotiating with suppliers to secure best value, year on year savings and first-class service

• Managing supplier performance, risk mitigation and on-time delivery across direct and indirect portfolios
• Carrying out monthly inventory profiling to secure material availability while avoiding overstocking
• Supporting daily SQDIP walks and the development of internal and supplier KPIs

As a Buyer, your experience will include:

• A professional qualification in procurement and supply (CIPS or equivalent), or at least 2 years of direct and/or indirect purchasing experience
• Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
• Confident use of MRP/ERP systems, with SYSPRO experience an advantage
• Strong Excel skills and good working knowledge of Office 365
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• The ability to read basic 2D technical drawings, or mechanical knowledge, would be an advantage
