Job summary

Workforce Staffing is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our procurement team in a hands‑on role within an established engineering and manufacturing environment. You will source, evaluate and manage suppliers, negotiate terms, and ensure best value in quality, cost and delivery.

Key responsibilities include raising purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, resolving issues, and producing reports for senior management. The ideal candidate has CIPS Level 4 and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Buyer or Procurement role, ideally within engineering/manufacturing.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification or willingness to continue professional development.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.

Responsibilities

Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 per annum + quarterly bonus
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm, Friday 8:00am–1:00pm
Working pattern: Office-based, full time

The Role

An established and highly regarded engineering and manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Buyer to join its procurement team.

This is a hands‑on procurement role, responsible for sourcing products and services, managing supplier relationships and ensuring the best combination of quality, cost and delivery. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to support smooth day‑to‑day operations while identifying opportunities to improve purchasing performance and reduce costs.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role, preferably within an engineering, manufacturing or similar environment
• CIPS Level 4 qualification or a willingness to continue professional development
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities
• High attention to detail
• The ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with pressure or competing priorities
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work independently as well as effectively within a wider team
