Business Development Team Manager

Bristol | Permanent

£60,000–£80,000 base salary plus bonus, depending on experience

Adria Solutions is recruiting a Business Development Team Manager for an established professional services business specialising in R&D tax and innovation incentives.

This opportunity would suit an experienced sales leader who enjoys coaching people, improving performance and helping a team convert opportunities into revenue. You will bring clear direction, commercial discipline and the confidence to hold individuals accountable while building a collaborative, motivated team.

Working closely with senior commercial leadership, you will turn business development priorities into practical activity and measurable results.

The role

• Lead, coach and develop the business development team to achieve revenue, pipeline and growth targets.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and coaching sessions.
• Set clear expectations around sales activity, opportunity progression, conversion and revenue.
• Identify performance gaps early and implement focused improvement plans.
• Lead pipeline and forecast reviews, helping team members overcome barriers and progress opportunities.
• Champion Salesforce best practice, ensuring accurate records, reliable reporting and consistent adoption.
• Use sales data to identify trends, risks and opportunities to improve team results.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing team development.
• Build a positive sales culture with shared accountability and recognition of success.

About you

You will have:

• Proven experience managing or leading a business development or sales team.
• Evidence of improving team performance through coaching, feedback and clear accountability.
• Strong commercial awareness and a track record of delivering against sales targets.
• Advanced practical Salesforce knowledge, including reporting, pipeline management and forecasting.
• The ability to turn sales metrics into clear actions that improve results.
• Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A resilient, proactive approach and the ability to bring energy and focus to a team.

Experience within R&D tax or innovation incentives would be particularly valuable. The business will also consider strong sales managers from financial services and experienced team leaders from sectors such as SaaS or corporate benefits.

The package

A base salary of £60,000–£80,000 plus bonus is available, depending on experience and sector background.

The balance between team leadership and personal sales responsibility will reflect your experience. Candidates with an established R&D tax sales background may combine management responsibilities with a personal revenue target, with incentives structured accordingly.
