Job description

The Opportunity

Our client is an established and highly regarded IT, Telecoms & Connectivity provider, delivering technology solutions to businesses across Northern Ireland, Great Britain and ROI. With a strong customer-focused approach and a broad portfolio covering VoIP, mobile, business connectivity, cloud and IT services, they are continuing to grow their market presence and are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join the team.

This is a genuine new business role, focused on identifying, developing and closing opportunities across a wide range of sectors and customer types.

About the Role

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating new business from a standing start, developing relationships with prospective customers and closing new commercial opportunities.

You will have the freedom to target businesses across different markets rather than being restricted to a specific territory, using a consultative approach to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate technology solutions.

The role will involve a strong mix of prospecting, networking, cold outreach, meetings and face-to-face customer engagement, alongside responsibility for developing the accounts you win.

  • Identify and develop prospective customers across a range of sectors and markets.
  • Manage the full sales process from initial prospecting through to negotiation and close.

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline, providing accurate forecasts and activity reports.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and multi-year agreements.
  • Develop and grow relationships with customers after the initial sale.
  • Attend networking events and represent the business professionally.
  • Work closely with Sales Operations, Pre-Sales, Finance and Service Delivery teams to progress opportunities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of competitors and the wider technology market.
  • Continuously grow your pipeline of potential customers.

  • Commercially driven with a strong focus on results.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to build long-term relationships.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Professional approach with excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders to deliver customer solutions.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic and driven approach to sales.
