Job Description

At Straumann Group, we recognize that our growth depends on a high-performing sales team. We are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to support sales activities within the UK and Ireland. This role involves identifying, qualifying, and closing sales with new ‘switcher’ customers who can benefit from our products and services. As the first point of contact with prospects, BDMs should have a strong understanding of the sales process and our portfolio, excel at researching leads, initiating relationships, and preparing our Territory Managers for ongoing account maintenance.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner with excellent communication skills, capable of effectively showcasing Straumann Group’s offerings. Every potential customer is an opportunity to increase revenue, customer acquisition, and profitability. This is a developmental position, including supporting regional teams through mentoring, training, onboarding new employees, and managing a small corporate account to develop commercial skills.

Objectives of this Role
  • Outbound calling and digital outreach to engage prospects.
  • Building relationships with key decision-makers, understanding their needs, and conducting needs analysis.
  • Representing Straumann Group, understanding account needs, and aligning solutions accordingly.
  • Overcoming objections and communicating our value propositions.
  • Generating and nurturing leads, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Managing a pipeline and coordinating with Territory Managers for next steps.
  • Ensuring smooth handovers for sales, onboarding, or account maintenance.
  • Contributing to organizational success by generating leads, creating quotes, and closing sales.
  • Upselling opportunities and supporting coverage of vacant territories remotely if needed.
Responsibilities
  • Proactively seek new business using phone, social media, and email.
  • Qualify leads promptly and accurately.
  • Create quotes and close sales when possible.
  • Arrange meetings with prospects and Territory Managers, capturing all data in CRM.
  • Drive event attendance through outbound calls.
  • Maintain consistent CRM usage and assist in coaching team members.
  • Onboard high-value prospect accounts and facilitate handovers.
Required Capabilities, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Self-motivated, highly driven.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in digital platforms and social selling.
  • Quick learner of digital technologies.
  • Organized with strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to measure progress and results.
  • Understanding of sales processes and pipeline management.
  • Resilient with excellent telephone manner.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ethical approach to sales and brand representation.
  • Degree preferred, team-oriented, eager to learn and succeed.
  • Experience in the dental sector or sales with a proven track record is advantageous.
