Business Development Manager – Ophthalmology (South East UK)
My client is a market leader in providing innovative ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical solutions across the UK. With over 60 years of experience, we are trusted by eye care professionals for our advanced technology, outstanding support, and commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities in NHS and private ophthalmology clinics and hospitals across the South East region.
- Promote and sell Clients Optical portfolio of diagnostic and surgical ophthalmic equipment and solutions.
- Maintain strong, consultative relationships with key decision-makers including ophthalmologists, procurement leads, clinic managers, and surgeons.
- Conduct sales presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions.
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline using CRM tools and maintain accurate sales forecasting.
- Negotiate and close sales agreements, working with internal teams to ensure seamless implementation and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform business strategy.
- Attend industry conferences, exhibitions, and regional events as a representative of the brand.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven track record in business development or medical sales, ideally within ophthalmology or medical diagnostics.
- Experience selling into NHS Trusts, private clinics, and/or hospital environments.
- Strong knowledge of the UK healthcare procurement process.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a field-based role with a self-starter attitude.
- Clinical knowledge or experience in the ophthalmology sector.
- Familiarity with capital equipment sales cycles and tendering processes.
- Existing relationships within NHS or private ophthalmology networks.
