Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to drive growth across the industrial coatings sector nationwide, with a preference for candidates in the North East of England. The role entails regular travel to customer sites and industry events, and offers circa £50,000 base plus bonus/commission and a car allowance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Business Development or Sales Manager role.
• Experience in industrial coatings, protective coatings or corrosion protection is preferred.
• Strong commercial awareness with ability to negotiate and close opportunities.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities within the industrial coatings market.
• Develop relationships with shipyards, marine operators, industrial manufacturers, EPC contractors, asset owners and engineering companies.
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers to maximise repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Prepare and deliver commercial proposals, quotations and presentations.
• Work closely with technical teams to ensure coating specifications meet customer requirements.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
• Represent the business at industry exhibitions, networking events and customer meetings.
• Develop and maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide regular forecasting to senior management.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and support contract completion.
• Identify opportunities to collaborate with wider business teams and develop cross-selling opportunities.
• Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to the long-term growth strategy.
