Business Development Manager – Healthcare Innovation (Hybrid | London HQ)

Snapshot

  • Location: Hybrid – 2-3 days per week in central London, remainder remote
  • Travel: 1½–2 weeks per month across US, Europe & Asia
  • Reporting to: Global Business Development Director
  • Start: Q3 2025 (flexible for notice periods)

The Opportunity

Our client is an award-winning product-innovation and design consultancy that transforms breakthrough science and engineering into market-ready healthcare solutions. To expand in global med-tech, diagnostics, and digital health markets, they are creating a new Business Development Manager (BDM) position.

You will manage the full BD lifecycle—from strategic prospecting to closing multi-million-pound design, development, and industrialization projects—collaborating with top researchers, engineers, and designers.

What You’ll Do

  • Market mapping & lead generation: identify start-ups, OEMs, and healthcare brands needing external R&D and design partners.
  • Opportunity shaping: engage C-suite, R&D, and innovation leaders; develop consultancy programs to de-risk and accelerate market entry.
  • Proposal & bid leadership: coordinate internal SMEs to craft proposals, budgets, and timelines; negotiate scope, pricing, and terms.
  • Account stewardship: nurture long-term relationships, identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Thought leadership: represent the consultancy at global conferences, webinars, and events; contribute to industry insights.
  • Collaboration: act as the commercial link between multidisciplinary teams, ensuring smooth project hand-offs and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's in engineering, industrial/product design, biomedical science, or similar; Master’s or PhD preferred.
  • Background: Proven success in business development or strategic sales in healthcare, med-tech, diagnostics, pharma, or health-focused design/engineering services.
  • Experience as a consultant, designer, or engineer is highly advantageous.
  • Track record of closing £1m+ consulting or NPD projects and managing pipelines of £5–10m.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (~35–40%).
  • Commercially savvy, data-driven, and skilled at navigating complex buying centers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills in English; additional European or Asian languages are a plus.
