Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist projects and working groups by providing general administration services, analytics reports and tracking outputs.
  • Support effective communication across the business by helping to cascade information and collaborating with divisional specialists to provide general policy guidance and advice.
  • Monitor and report on mandatory training and support other people-related administrative activities as required.
  • Provide business support services, including diary assistance, travel logistics, coordination of meetings, and managing onboarding and offboarding activities for staff and freelancers.
  • Carry out delegated business administrative tasks, including raising IT support requests and supporting risk management and data protection processes. Support financial and planning activities, including monitoring finance performance against budget, producing relevant management information, raising purchase orders, processing contributor payments and supporting freelancer bookings.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £31,000 - £36,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Working in the News and Current Affairs Team, the primary objective of the Business Coordinator role is to provide comprehensive business support to managers and team leaders. The role will be responsible for a broad range of administrative tasks, including diary management, payment processing, co-ordinating training initiatives, and driving the optimisation of cross-team operational systems.

Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Organised, with ability to prioritise own workload effectively, coordinating activities and conflicting demands to ensure that tight deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrate excellent communications skills and the ability to influence a range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience of gathering, analysing and collating complex and confidential information, and producing management information (MI) reports.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, using initiative to resolve problems and adapt to continually changing business needs.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn new systems.
Desirable
  • Experience of providing administrative support within a large or complex organisation,
  • Business and finance skills, including the ability to prepare, manage and/or monitor budgets and resource plans.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar business systems.
  • Experience of working with colleagues across a wide range of roles and levels of seniority, including remote teams.
  • Interest in news and current affairs, or experience within the media sector.
