Job summary

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to lead surveys, advise on repairs, and oversee maintenance and refurbishment projects across domestic properties in the Manchester area.

The role requires diagnosing day-to-day repair issues, addressing damp and other building defects, and coordinating with residents, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely, compliant delivery. A proactive, customer-focused communicator will thrive in this post.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Property Surveyor, Repairs Surveyor, Maintenance Surveyor or similar housing/property role.
• Experience inspecting domestic properties and diagnosing day-to-day repair issues.
• Knowledge of damp, mould, condensation and general building defects.
• Ability to prepare clear survey findings, technical notes and repair recommendations.
• Experience liaising with residents, contractors and operational teams to progress repair works.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied patch/workload.
• Customer-focused approach with confidence to handle queries and support positive outcomes.
• Knowledge of responsive repairs, maintenance processes and housing/property standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed building surveys and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Manage property maintenance and refurbishment projects from initiation to completion.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and building standards.
• Provide professional advice on construction and property matters.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Identify and assess building defects and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Oversee the preparation of tender documents and contracts.
• Monitor project progress and prepare detailed updates for stakeholders.
