Hyperion Partners Limited is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to support a social housing provider across a residential portfolio. You will identify defects, specify remedial works and ensure safety and compliance.

You will inspect properties, manage contractors, prepare cost estimates and contribute to planned maintenance and repairs programmes. Strong knowledge of housing legislation and standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in building surveys within social housing or local authority housing.
• Strong knowledge of building defects and remedial works.
• Ability to manage contractors and oversee repairs/planned works.
• Ability to produce technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, HHSRS and Decent Homes Standards.

Responsabilités

• Carry out property inspections, building surveys and defect diagnosis across residential properties.
• Identify building defects, including damp and mould, water ingress, structural issues and general disrepair.
• Specify remedial works and prepare schedules of work, specifications and cost estimates.
• Manage and monitor contractors to ensure works are delivered to the required quality, timescales and budget.
• Undertake pre- and post-inspections to assess workmanship and ensure completed works meet the required standards.
• Support planned maintenance, refurbishment and responsive repairs programmes.
• Liaise with residents, contractors and internal teams to resolve property-related issues effectively.
• Monitor contractor performance, variations, valuations and expenditure where required.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, reports and property documentation.
• Ensure works comply with relevant health and safety requirements, housing standards and statutory obligations.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a social housing provider, supporting the delivery of property maintenance, repairs and planned works across a residential housing portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong surveyor with experience in social housing, who can identify building defects, recommend appropriate remedial works and ensure properties remain safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Experience & Skills

• Previous experience working as a Building Surveyor within social housing or local authority housing.


• Strong technical knowledge of building defects, property maintenance and remedial works.


• Experience managing contractors and overseeing repairs or planned works.


• Ability to produce technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.


• Knowledge of relevant housing legislation, HHSRS and Decent Homes Standards.


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with residents and stakeholders.


• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload independently.

Desirable

• Experience with damp and mould investigations and housing disrepair.


• Knowledge of planned maintenance, capital works and refurbishment programmes.


• Experience with Schedule of Rates (SOR), valuations and contract administration.


• Relevant surveying qualification or equivalent practical experience.
